“I’m Not the Lingerie Type…” And That’s Totally Okay

One of the most common things I hear from clients is, “I’ve never worn lingerie before—and I definitely wouldn’t wear it at home.” And honestly? Same. I’d take cozy sweats and an oversized tee over a corset any day. (And let’s be real—my husband prefers that too.)

So if the idea of wearing lingerie feels intimidating or just not like you, don’t worry—you’re not alone. So many of the women who walk into my Hillsboro, Missouri boudoir studio feel the same way at first. You don’t need to be a lingerie model or even own lingerie to have a stunning, empowering boudoir session.

What Should You Wear for Your Boudoir Session?

You’ll receive a full Wardrobe Guide before your shoot, packed with tips, outfit ideas, and inspiration to help you shop for and plan your looks. From cozy sweaters and cheeky undies to bodysuits, silk robes, and button-down shirts—there are so many ways to create a sexy, confident look that still feels like you. Boudoir doesn’t have to mean lace and garters (unless you want it to!).

While I don’t provide a full client wardrobe, I do have beautiful silk sheets, luxe robes, and a few accessories we can incorporate into your session if needed. We’ll also help you plan your outfits ahead of time and guide you through selecting what will photograph beautifully based on your body type, comfort level, and vibe. Whether you’re aiming for bold and dramatic or soft and natural, we’ll make it happen.

Comfy Can Be Sexy

The best part about boudoir photography is that it’s not about what you’re wearing—it’s about how you feel. Confidence is sexy. Comfort is sexy. You can rock your favorite bralette and lounge shorts or bring your partner’s button-up shirt—there’s no “right” outfit.

On the day of your shoot, we’ll go over everything you’ve brought and help you finalize your wardrobe. We’ll even help you style each look to make sure it flatters you perfectly and photographs like a dream.

Your Session, Your Style

Most of the boudoir photos you see on our site or social media might feature lingerie—but that’s just one option. We’ve had women show up in leather jackets, jeans, silky pajamas, flowy dresses, and everything in between. Whatever makes you feel confident, sexy, and powerful—we’re here for it.

If you’re planning a boudoir shoot in the St. Louis or Southern Illinois area and wondering what to wear, just know this: you don’t have to fit a mold. You don’t have to wear lingerie. And you don’t have to figure it all out alone. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.
